About Us
The Overlooked Florida Story
History has a way of being either forgotten or overlooked, and many times only notorious events are remembered. Overlooked Florida is a documentary that will explore the origins of the oldest continuously lived city in North America, St. Augustine. We will also show Florida's place as "The Gateway to The New World", "The Gateway to Central/South America and the Caribbean" and "The Gateway to Space". This documentary will also cover the origination the cattle industry, the creation of the world's first "Ice Maker", the birth of the Environmental Movement , origins of the Civil Rights Movement and the uprising of "Florida Man".
The Overlooked Experience
This documentary was created as an alternative to the notorious "Florida Man"! Producer/Director and Florida Native, Darren Preston Lane, had heard so many stories about Social Media Meme that he decided to find a positive take on the contributions of Florida residents. "Obviously, Florida has a strange mystique and it has become a lightning rod in the news". said Lane, "People hear crazy things about Florida, but they only hear sensational stories. The truth of the matter is, stories just as weird happen everywhere".

This is only the beginning, some documentaries leave you wanting more, our intention is to show the viewer even more Overlooked Florida! From the early indigenous people to "Men on the Moon", Florida has been at the forefront of science, technology, agriculture, pop culture, entertainment and many other areas of commerce.
